Why use a Pressure Regulator?

  • Reduces pressure to desired range for uniformity and safety.
  • Assures desired pressure if the source fluctuates.
  • Assures desired pressure in hilly terrain.
  • Pressure must be greater than desired operating pressure.
  • Flow rates must be within the limits of the regulator.

Why use Flow Meters?

  • Monitor water use for crop management
  • Monitor system for plugging (lower flow rates)
  • Monitor system for broken lines (higher flow rates)
  • Overall system performance
  • Helps with system troubleshooting
  • Many styles available to fit the application
  • Typically require 10 x 5 rule for installation (10 x pipe dia before and 5 x dia after meter of straight pipe
    length).
Styles
  • Pitot Tube: Reads instant flow no totalizer. Typically bolts onto the sidewall of the pipe and short tube is inserted in a drilled hole in the side wall of the pipe. Good for trouble shooting and testing system performance.
  • In-Line: Installed in-line typically bolt on or threaded style connections. Total waterflow passes through the device spinning a turbine or impeller. Available with many register options.
  • Bolt-on Saddle Type: Installed in-line by cutting a hole in the sidewall of the pipe with the turbine or impeller in the flow path.

Foot Valves

  • Used to protect pump from large particles on the suction line side
  • Helps to keep pump primed
  • Self-cleaning available
  • Many connection option (Threaded, Glue, Flange, OD Pipe)
  • Different body materials (Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Brass, PVC, cast iron)
  • Different mesh inlet screen sizes

AIR VENTS

Air vents help prevent collapsing lines, back siphoning, air pockets, and other problems associated with air in systems.
Sizes range from 1/2" -4"

Kinetic: Exhaust air at system start-up and allow air into the system at system shut-down.
Continuous: Exhausts air at system start-up and continues automatic air relief during operation. Not used as large volume air vent/vacuum.
Combo: Exhausts air at system start-up, continues to provide air relief during operation and allows air into system at system shut-down.
